What to Look for in Kitchen Countertops

When it comes to choosing new countertops for your kitchen, there are many options available that are all great quality materials. However, there are certain concerns in the kitchen that require certain benefits from your countertops. For example, you might want to avoid countertop materials that stain easily. Here is what you should look for in kitchen countertops to help you make the best choice for your needs.

What to Look for in Kitchen Countertops

  1. Water resistance: Your kitchen countertops are used around the kitchen sink as you do dishes and while you cook. It can be easy to splash water onto the counter at any point while doing dishes or cooking, which is why water resistance matters. Water resistance can often be improved with a proper sealant for your countertops when needed, but you might choose quartz or another nonporous material for the best results without having to do much maintenance.
  2. Durable and stain resistant: Especially if you tend to be a messy cook, you will want to choose kitchen countertops that are more durable and nonporous for more stain resistance. Once again, quartz is a great option, but granite and marble can also be great once properly sealed.
  3. Low maintenance: You likely spend enough time in the kitchen washing the dishes and cleaning up after cooking. You will want to find kitchen countertops that require low maintenance, so you don’t have to constantly worry over basic wear and tear. There are some materials that require nothing more than a light scrub with soap and water while others require more extensive care and cleaning to keep them in top condition.

We have many kitchen countertop options available here at Precision Decorating, and we would love to help you find just the right choice for your home. You can give us a call to get started or to learn more.
